Fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association

Both of my parents are diabetic. They continuously fight the serious health-related battles that diabetes wages against them. In 2008 alone, my father endured three operations on his foot, an operation on his leg and two operations on his eye due to the debilitating effects of diabetes. My parents are strong, but it pains me to watch them suffer as a result of this affliction.  Pam Branch Designs, L.L.C. has pledged to take part in the fight to eradicate diabetes.

From November 8, 2008, which is my mother's birthday, until December 25, 2008, Pam Branch Designs, L.L.C. will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of jewelry from the “Margaret’s Garden” collection to the American Diabetes Association. The Margaret's Garden line is named after my mother. It is a delicate line of jewelry whose colors are reminiscent of those found in my mother's flower garden. I hope to make a significant contribution to this cause that has such personal significance to my family.

"Solamente Silver" - The Movie

This is a very short movie of my "Solamente Silver" line of jewelry. (I don't know if I am prouder of the fact that I made these great pieces or that I finally figured out how to use Photoshop.)

Pictures on the Porch

Taking fabulous pictures of jewelry has been a major challenge for me.  From lighting the pieces just right to snapping the pictures from the most flattering angle, I try very hard to make sure the images of my jewelry are beautiful depictions of my work.  I've learned that the best pictures of jewelry are taken in natural light.  The pictures below are my favorite. I laid them on my front porch, on a bright, sunny day, and snapped away. These pieces are from my "Solamente Silver" line of jewelry.

So happy...

I'm on my way to my family reunion in North Carolina. We are driving there from Georgia. There are 9 of us going all together. Five adults and four kids. We started out at noon in two cars and about an hour and a half into the trip, my sister's car caught on fire. No one was hurt, but despite the additional oil and antifreeze my sister poured into the car, it just wouldn't start. We had to get a tow truck to take her car away. We all had to pile into my other sister's car in order to continue the drive to North Carolina. It is now 6:00 and we still have a few hours to go. We are 9 people in a car built for 5. This has been a very trying trip and we aren't even close to being there yet, but I am happy.

When all is said and done and I get home on Sunday after this trip, I do not have to worry about trudging into my old office on Monday. I am so happy to be my own boss, to be independent, to be a designer. Yes, my office is now my bedroom. I don't have co-workers, and I don't go out for lunch, but when all is said and done, when I roll out of bed on Monday, I will be happy to be faced with tons of beads, wires and tools waiting for me to get busy instead of piles of files, millions of voicemails and impatient clients lined up outside my door. So happy, so happy...
